Go Bucks!!

Chapter 23
Today was another busy day...Leah had her follow up appointment with Dr. Dave, her Opthamologist about her chalazion. Well, it has gone down a bit, though it is still a bit pink, irritated he says, and so we will continue to do warm compresses and lid scrubs till it eventually goes away! I am hoping that is soon! The poor thing has dealt with this since September! She is a trooper, and thankfully really likes Dr. Dave- he "makes me laugh", she says. I did, however, find out interestingly, that Leah is going to be a candidate for glasses as time goes on...she is leaning towards near-sightedness...just like her Dad was! Thanks a lot, Dana! I figured so, as I watched her read the letters on the eye chart today...wow! She really can't see far away! That's okay, I think she will look adorable in glasses...someday...not too soon, I hope!
That said, we concluded the day with baths and family movie night, "Batman" is tonight's movie of choice...Leah keeps asking when the Joker is going to appear- again and again...if only she as a "Patient as a Penguin", one of her things that makes us laugh!
Here are a few adorable pics of the girls in their new Pottery Barn towels I got for them...so cute! Oh, and one of Celeste as Diego- her favorite gift from Aunt Liza!
Each time I put Celeste in her "Bunny" towel, she makes the funniest faces, and is so happy.......that is until it is time to get jammies on, and then if the Diego jammies are dirty, she isn't that cute little bunny anymore! Thank goodness I did the laundry...

A New Year has come...

Chapter 22
Anyway, my friend Julie's fiance was baptized today, and I did make it to that, which was the highlight of the day- I love baptisms, and it was really nice to be there with them today, and Celeste wasn't half bad -(depends on who you ask), but we made it through. I may be able to miss class tomorrow too, if she isn't feeling too much better- (a small bonus when you have a sicky- I am kidding, I LOVE church!!)
Today Dana's sister turned 30, and she just had her 3rd baby a month ago- this was my life 2 years ago- I tried to reassure her that it gets better as the days go by- now that you have hit 30, things that were easy 5 years ago, just aren't now- it is so true! I love being in my 30's, since I am still in my EARLY 30's...don't ask me in a few more years! But I am smarter now, and have worked out some of the kinks of when I was a mom at 25- you go more with the flow, and you decide that you are the mom, and you know best for your kids- that much I am grateful for learning in my 30's, and it is knowledge that just keeps growing...thank goodness!
So much more to look forward to, but for now, I am happy to be where I am, where I want to be, and where I want to stay...for now!

Chapter 21
I will NOT thank you for taking your wonderful wife away from us! I WILL NOT! I realize that family comes first and all, but Ohio is great too! I know, I know...Ohio is really only great because of the Buckeyes, that's what you're thinking, right?! Well, that is true, but we are here and we are great too!! I won't hold it against you because we may not live in Ohio forever, either. We have big plans to move someday, and I stress SOMEDAY, because I am not sure when that will come, but I so hope that our paths cross on one of those somedays, because some friendships are worth the wait! I hold dear that gospel friendships are eternal, and will keep that in mind while you live far away.
I will miss you, Katie, and your wonderful boys, you have been a huge inspiration to me in more ways than you know, and I treasure our service together in YW, and will never forget so many of those times. I love your boys and will continue to watch them grow as you post pics, and perhaps you will be lonely enough in Texas that you will invite us to visit sometime! Please know that you will be dearly missed at Church in my RS, and at playgroup for sure! Take care and always keep in touch...
With love,-Kelly

Christmas 2007 Part II
We all rushed down to see what the big deal was, and this is what we saw:
"Oh my goodness, there are so many presents!" That is what I heard from them! They were amazed, and Celeste came running with the little Dora figure you see here, wondering where Diego was- she was not happy that he wasn't up there too- I had to distract her till later when Diego finally arrived in another package! It didn't take them long to open everything, and when it was over, it was not as pretty of a sight! They had fun, and got things that they were very grateful for, as was, I, since watching their faces was worth all the months of planning and surprising! I love Christmas!
To sum up the presents, I made up these collages- needless to say, they got more gifts than they could ever need or want- but hey, it's Christmas, right?! We weren't the only ones spoiling them- they have Aunts and Grandma's for that!

After all the opening madness, we sat down together, had breakfast, (cinnamon rolls- a must have on holiday mornings, and others too!), and talked about why we get gifts and why we celebrate Christmas after all- they knew all the "perfect answers", but this year we emphasized some gifts we could give Jesus for his birthday- the answers were simple and profound- BE KIND TO EACH OTHER, PRAY, BE HONEST, and LOVE ONE ANOTHER- how perfect, and how wonderful- they each said they would do these this year, as did Dana and I. We watched, "Joy to the World" with reverence and then we knelt as a family in prayer before bed, thanking Heavenly Father for all the blessings we have received this day, and everyday and hope that He accepts our gifts we are offering Him. It truly was a fun, but tiring day, so with that said, I am off to bed, because something tells me that tomorrow will be an early day, too!

Christmas 2007 Part I
Imagine buying for 11 people- that is including my dad, my brother, his wife and 3 girls and our 5! She is amazing! Well, I posted some pics of each kid with their coveted gifts from Grandma and Grandpa- they loved everything! Sean and Stephanie always know the best gifts for us, too- they got us wonderful, useful things- thank you!!22 December 2007
9 Christmases ago...
It was 1998 and we were, 23 years old!! Wow- time really does fly by! We had been married since April, and we were so happy! Can you see it in our faces- still newlyweds, just back from a 10 day trip to Chile, no children, we had money, and could do nothing else but enjoy the holiday with little stress! Wow- things do change as the time flies by!Well, for our 1st Christmas together, Dana's mom bought us our tree- because when I grew up, we always had a real tree- even though Dana's house had an artificial, his mom thought it would be fun for us to have our own real tree- so nice! Well, we lived in a great little apartment, that had a perfect spot for this newly cut tree, from Meijer, no less. We brought it home, though I don't remember how we got it home, and put it up in the corner by the sliding glass doors. We got an old rusty tree stand from my parents, (more about the effects of that, later), and we began to decorate. From the get go, Dana did not want a real tree! He insisted that they "weren't worth the hassle"! I said it was worth it and I won! So much for that win, because he was right- it turned out to not be worth the hassle. For several reasons, though someday we will have a real tree again. Not to mention that it was a bent tree, so it is competely leaning against the wall! Hey, I said this was our 1st Christmas, and I was young!!
1. We were going to Chile from 10 December to the 20th, and we had his little brother coming over to stay and water the tree- but that unfortunately didn't happen! What happens to a tree that isn't watered regularly? It dies!!
2. When we returned home to our DEAD tree, with needles falling all over the newly cleaned carpet, I realized it wasn't going to be a good thing anymore!
3. We had to take it down right away, to salvage what was left of it...so we did, and once the tree had left our apartment, we found not only needless ALL OVER the floor, but a HUGE rust stain from that rusty tree holder! Lovely.
4. So, how do you pick up 1000 or more tree needles off your carpet- you vacuum, right? Well, I got out our NEW vacuum we had gotten from my Grandparents for our wedding, and began to sweep. BAD IDEA! The vacuum broke! That's right, it broke! It cost me 30 bucks to get it fixed...so the tree was NOT worth the hassle- Dana was right! (He isn't always right!)
I hated to admit that, but we have had a small artificial tree ever since! I am not sure that will change anytime soon, either. I keep thinking that someday he will change his mind, because memories can fade, but seriously, this memory is still fresh, and I think it was because it was our 1st Christmas together!
It ended up being a great Christmas- I remember Dana got me The Steve Miller Band Greatest Hits CD- I love that CD! I loved it in college the most, and it brings back the few memories I have of that time- it was a nice present. I honestly have no idea what I bought him, but I guess it was a good once, since he is smiling in the picture. We did get our little kitty that first year and she has been with us ever since. We named her Belen, since that translated is Bethlehem in Spanish. It is a perfect name for her!
We have lots of memories of our Christmases together, but this one is a great one to hold on to- here's to 100 more! I was tan, though, and check out my long hair- you'll never see it that way again!
Oh, and please don't laugh at the scrapbook page, I am much better now!!! And that was a long time ago!!

2nd Grade Holiday Party
I was the "mom in charge" of the class activities in Alex's room today! It wasn't as much work as I anticipated, and it turned out pretty fun! I had them make an ornament out of wrapping paper, and then make a tree or ornament on paper with glue and glitter- not messy at all- right?! It wasn't that bad, thankfully I had 3 other moms and his teacher to help! Then for the finale, the class decorated their teacher, Mr. Cracraft as a Christmas tree- here is the fun they had...
He is such a good sport, and the kids so loved doing something to him! I had a good time helping, and honestly, I kept thinking about how much I missed actual teaching in elementary school, and how much I look forward to teaching again...but then, I thought of how short my time is with my kids at home, and I thought that before long they will all be in school, and grown up. I treasure my time at home, I don't want to be anywhere else in the world right now in my life. I am so grateful for these years that I am at home and able to help so much for fun things like this- I love it!
