That's Alex's batting average this season- his first in player pitch! He started out the season 0 for 3- but after those first two games, ended up getting at least 1 hit each one! We are so proud- he works very hard and wants to practice all the time. He even pitched his next to last game and struck out 4 players! I think he needs to strengthen his arm for next season so he can pitch more often. But all in all, he did spectacular- on his last game, he made 3 outs, and had 2 hits with 2 RBI's! And they won!! Their record was 3-5, but that is actually not that bad, considering they didn't have that great of pitchers! It's just too bad that the season is now over just when they get going...but that's how it is! Overall, he is a great player- loves to cheer on his team mates and overall has a great time!

At the end of the final game- they pulled out a great win!

This was the winning hit in game #4! Way to go Phillies!!

I am also glad the season doesn't go into July when it gets hotter and hotter! Rec league baseball is really the perfect option for us- it's cheap and he can learn to play many positions and the wins and losses only matter to certain kids and parents (like us!) Kidding....we are just happy that playing baseball makes him happy, and that he's pretty good, too!!

A Tribute

So this week, Michael Jackson died...not that I am mourning that loss, but the loss of wonderful music, and nostalgic memories of years past. I grew up listening to MJ and the classic hits of his. I fell in love with his tone, and of course the dancing! I could not even begin to count the memories I have of those times, but my kids have virtually none. So, I thought I would help them learn a few of our favorites like these:

"Thriller"

"ABC" "The Way You Make Me Feel"

"Man in the Mirror"

"P.Y.T. (pretty young thing)"

"Thriller"

"The Girl is Mine"

"Beat It"

"Don't Stop till You Get Enough"

"Blame it on the Boogie"

"Bad"

"Remember the Time" "You Wanna Be Startin Somethin'"
"I'll Be There""I Just Can't Stop Loving You"

"Smooth Criminal"
We love the hits, and we love the memories- here's to creating more with these kids and the legendary music from one strange, but talented man.

To the three best dads I know...I love and cherish you more than I could ever find the words to say. Thank you for all you do and give each and everyday to enrich my life and the life of my family. I am truly blessed....

Summer or School- I choose Summer!

My last post was depressing, I realized...so this one is far from it! We spent all last week in the summer sun! The sprayground, the fountains at the mall, and the pool- Alex had a few games, he and Dana went to a Braves game, we hung out with Elder Diaz, too- it was great! I am happy to report that this week I am very grateful for a teacher husband- it was nice having a full family do all fun stuff together!

Here is a recap in photos:

It was such a busy week, and that was just what I needed....let's hope it continues- perhaps not as busy, but this is a great start!!

When Does School Start Again?!

Alex and Leah and Dana all finished school last week...and already I am wondering when it will begin again!! I am not used to this! I like my freedom and just Celeste and I during the day- we have a routine, a regular routine that I need!! I love sleeping in a little later, and not having to pack lunches, but everything else is just not right!
The weather has cooperated a little- the kids have been outside, but now I have another adult in the house ALL the time! What does he do? Drive me crazy, that's what! Don't' get me wrong, I am grateful for him and enjoy him being here most of the time, but ALL of the time?! Yeah, not so much! It works better during the year when I am in charge of the flow of the day!

So, will it be a long summer? What do you think?!
No vacation to the beach,
no big excursions,
just day to day, enjoy the sun, summer.
#1 objective: sell this house and move.
#2: try not to lose my little mind.

Alex with his teacher- saying good-bye and finishing with straight A's- the 3rd grade... Leah with her teaching, getting all out standing's as she finishes the 1st grade... In all seriousness, it has just been a downer week- super busy, but nothing terribly productive, not to mention everyone home all the time! I am looking forward to a really fun summer, despite no vacation- we have a great time just going to the park and Renee's pool! Bless her! I am hopeful with the house and am trying desperately to be optimistic if it doesn't sell as soon as I want it to. Perhaps we (I) have more to learn here. I know we will move, I just don't know when...that has yet to be determined! Stay tuned...

Memorial Day Highlights and Lowlights...

Monday was Memorial Day! It is a nice day for me to ponder and appreciate the selfless sacrifice of so many men and women who have given their lives for the freedoms I enjoy- perhaps take for granted, but truly love. We live in a blessed nation. Both my Grandfathers served in WWII and so did Dana's. We have tried to tell our children the importance of our service men and women now serving to protect this nation as well as those who helped define it.

Our ward has it's annual picnic on Memorial Day. We have gone each year we have lived here. The park we go to has created a new kid play area, so the kids were even happier this year. The weather was perfect too. It is always great to spend time with friends at this picnic, since we don't always get to hang out in our day to day busy lives. After the picnic, we went home and relaxed for an hour, and then went to Julie and John's for "beer can chicken"- a John specialty that is wonderful. We truly enjoy their friendship and the time we spent with them.

Here are some collages from Monday- I know, I take way too many pictures!

Julie and Body- the biggest love able dog I have ever known.
Dana on the basketball court, playing with the Young Men and the Old Men!
The annual egg toss, that I managed to escape from again, but Bonnie, in the green was a good sport.
I don't know who won, but lots of people played.

It got hot at the park- it was very warm. The day was going so well, until....

someone asked me if I was "expecting"!! Yes, I know....there is no tact for some people. I was wearing this really cute, stylish shirt, that is gathered at the top, and just A-lines out. Adorable, actually, with a white tiny tee underneath. Perhaps it was that I was leaning over, or that I had a bowl of cake (yes a bowl, there were no plates at this point), perhaps it was that I had eaten a little too much...whatever it was, NO EXCUSE for the comment- NONE!!! So mad, was I, that I had to remove myself from her presence. I just don't understand why women, mothers, no less, feel the need to ask that question, when the answer could easily go one way or another. I learned very early on from my own mother that you DO NOT ask unless you are 100% certain, meaning the woman is about to give birth, or you DON'T ask at all! Clearly this woman never learned that- and I am certain won't or even teach her own daughters. Sad.

I am over being mad now...it has taken a day or two. It totally made me self conscious, and that is frustrating. I had even ran 2 miles that morning at a record speed and pace. Way to go and ruin that great feeling. It's okay, I do realize that some people just don't get it- it's okay, I refuse to be offended by ignorance. Wait till she sees me on Sunday...see if she asks me then! Ha!

On a much lighter note- check out my rose and dahlia that just bloomed this week:
